Explore Punakha, a valley that is blessed with natural beauty and spiritual significance, holds a historical significance as the former capital of Bhutan. A trip to Punakha offers a unique blend of natural beauty, rare bird sightings, and spiritual significance that is not to be missed.

Punakha, the once capital of Bhutan, is a valley that boasts breathtaking landscapes and sits quietly at the confluence of two rivers. A visit to this valley offers three-fold benefits. Firstly, it provides an opportunity to witness the beauty of the valley that rivals the Paro valley. Secondly, it offers a chance to spot some rare birds such as the white-bellied heron, which are as scarce as blue diamonds in the world. Lastly, Punakha is a sacred valley, and the majestic dzong built by Zhabdrung Rinpoche in the 17th century served as his main seat until his passing.
