Druk Wangyel Tshechu is a one-day annual event that happens at Dochula Pass which stands high at 3150m. The importance of this festival is that the dances are performed to celebrate the life of His Majesty The Fourth King. It is also dedicated to the peace and prosperity of the people in the Kingdom. It was at the command of Her Majesty Gyalyum Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck that the first tshechu was held. Since then, became an annual event. Druk Wangyel Tshechu means ‘Victory of Bhutan Festival’. In 2003, Bhutanese forces led by the Great Fourth King flushed out the Indian Militants who took refuge in our land. It was to mark this victory that this festival is observed.
