Some call this trek ‘a thousand lakes trek’, for, they get to see a multitude of pristine, crystal clear lakes. You will be ushered through the shimmering lakes and also be treated to stunning views of the entire Himalayan mountain range and some of the world’s highest peaks including Mt. Everest, Jomolhari, Masang Gang, Jichu Drake, Gangche Ta and many more. The trail also takes you through several Bhutanese villages so you can get a good idea of traditional Bhutanese village life as you make your way back from the lakes. Although it is somewhat a strenuous trek, it is worthwhile because of the tranquility and beauty of natural landscape that you will enjoy during the journey. The best time to embark on this trek is between April-June or September –October.

Day 01: Arrive at Paro
Receive at the Paro International Airport (2200 meters above sea-level). Visit to Ta Dzong, the National Museum, Paro Rinpung Dzong and nearby temples. Have orientation tour in the Paro town in the evening.

Overnight at Bhutan Mandala Resort

Day 02: Hike to Tiger’s Nest (Taktshang)
Hike to Taktshang Monastery (2900m) which is known as the Tiger’s Nest. It is one of the holiest sites in the country, in fact in the world.

Overnight at Bhutan Mandala Resort (or similar)

Day 03: Paro – Genekha – Gur (Trek starts)
Distance 7Km, Time 5 hours, Camp Elevation 3290m.
Drive to Genekha under Thimphu District. Then begin trekking from Genekha towards Gur.

Overnight stay at Gur campsite.

Day 04: Gur – Labatama
Distance 12Km, Time 6 hours, Camp Elev 4100m.
Trek from Gur to Labatama. Walk through the Utsho Lake where golden trouts are in abundance. The campsite is right next to the lake at 4100m.

Halt for the night at Labatama campsite.

Day 05: Labatama – Pankha,
Distance 8Km, Time 5-6 hours, Camp Elev 400m.
Resume trekking from Labatama to Pankha. The trail passes through the western side of the Dalatsho up to a saddle at 4520m.

Campsite is at Pankha at 4000m.    

Day 06: Pankha – Chamgang (2600M) – Thimphu (Trek ends),
Distance 14Km, Time 8 hours,
Begin another day of trekking from Pankha towards Chamgang. Upon reaching Chamgang, you will be picked up and taken to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

Day07: Thimphu-Paro DEPARTURE
Leave for respective destination from Paro International Airport.
