The Tergola Trek

Day 1: Arrival in Paro and Drive to Haa Valley

On the first day, you’ll arrive in Paro and then drive to Haa Valley. The drive will take you through beautiful countryside scenery. Once you reach Haa, you’ll check into a local guesthouse or hotel and rest for a while. In the afternoon, you’ll explore Haa Valley and visit its attractions such as the Lhakhang Karpo and Lhakhang Nagpo temples, the Haa Dzong fortress, and the local markets. You’ll have dinner and rest for the night.

Day 2: Drive to Tergo-La Pass and Sombaykha Valley

After breakfast, you’ll set out on a drive towards Tergo-La pass, which lies between Haa and Sombaykha valleys. The drive will take you through beautiful mountain scenery. You’ll reach Tergo-La pass, which stands at an elevation of 4135m, and take some time to soak in the natural beauty of the place and learn about its spiritual significance as the “hidden treasure door”. You’ll continue the drive towards Sombaykha valley, admiring the sense of entering a valley of hidden spiritual as you go. You’ll check into a local guesthouse or campsite in Sombaykha, have dinner and rest for the night.

Day 3: Explore Sombaykha Valley

On the third day, you’ll spend the day exploring the beautiful Sombaykha valley, which is known for its scenic beauty, pristine forests, and traditional lifestyle. You’ll visit the local villages and meet the friendly people who call this place home, and learn about their culture and traditions. You can take a hike in the forested hills or visit the Sombaykha Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to several endangered species such as the Himalayan black bear, red panda, and clouded leopard. In the evening, you’ll return to your guesthouse or campsite, have dinner and rest for the night.

Day 4: Drive back to Paro

After breakfast, you’ll drive back to Paro, stopping at scenic viewpoints along the way. You’ll reach Paro in the afternoon, and spend some time exploring the town and its attractions such as the Paro Dzong fortress, Kyichu Lhakhang temple, and the National Museum of Bhutan. In the evening, you’ll have a farewell dinner and rest for the night.

Day 5: Departure from Paro

On the final day, you’ll depart from Paro, with beautiful memories of your trip to Tergo-La and Sombaykha valley.
